If you’re a bougie gwrol such as myself, then you love having your nails done. I mean, it’s certainly a part of my uniform.
Unfortunately, being a bougie gwrol comes at a cost, and it comes around every other week.
As you will come to learn, I do a lot of my maintenance. Hair, nails, waxes (yes, girl the waxes) and it saves me a ton. So when I saw this nail kit going around I was intrigued to try it. I had made YouTube videos on using builder gel to attach my tips and I liked it because I could make sure I didn’t have any air bubbles and it allowed me to use tips that had a high apex. Although you can use this technique with tips, the problem is they’re plastic so you can’t soak them off. Aprés was the first time I had seen a kit where the tips were also gel, which made them 100% soakable. I would’ve loved to get the Aprés kit but as a college student, I wasn’t spending that Aprés moneyyyy 🥴 (A full kit is like $100+ ).
So when I saw this dupe kit by Beetles floating around Beyoncé’s internet for $14!?!? I had to try it! and as you can see you can’t tell I used a $14 kit to do my nails

Okay, so now that you’ve seen the process and results, let’s talk pros and cons:
Pros
- Ridiculously cheap
- Fast Application (way faster than acrylics)
- Sturdy- Lasted me 18 days!! (none of my nails broke)
- Comes with a compact LED lamp (great for traveling)
Cons
- Gel lamp won’t turn off unless you unplug it or let the cycle run (When checked the listing out again it looks like they upgraded the lamp so I’m not sure if it does the same thing now)
- Price went up (at the time of writing it’s on sale for $25.99)
Even though the price is higher than what I bought it for I would still definitely pay $26 for it now. So if I were you I’d get it here now while it’s on “sale” before they raise the prices again!
