2021 was a crazy year and turned so many lives on its head, myself included. While I’m not naive enough to think that a new year would erase all the crap that went on in 2021, I could appreciate the idea of a new start or a refresh. I’ve started making vision books a few years ago, but which the major life changes I had experienced in 2021, I knew I had to be very intentional in creating a vision about the trajectory in which my life would go. So when the new year came around I wanted to document this vision book, and share with you all how I did it.

What is a vision book?

First off, what is a vision book? Well, it’s basically a vision board in the form of a book. Vision boards are physical boards with pictures and words that represent accomplishments you want to achieve. I used to make vision boards but I found them too obtrusive in not only my decor but gruesome to move with. I decided I wanted to use a book so that way it’s way more compact, and I could do multiple years and reflect on how far I’d come.

What you need to make your vision book

Its simple to do and you only need a few things:

  • A notebook
  • Photos
  • Quotes/ words (I use canva pro to format mine)
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Optional but strongly encouraged

  • Wine
  • Dope playlist
  • Candles

Now let’s make our vision book

First, let’s set the vibe! I like to light candles, play a playlist (some lo-fi, soul or RnB is 🤌🏾 pour moi), and our course wine!

I like to start with the year and a quote. This quote is representative of how I envision my year going. For this year I’ve gone with “She created a life she loved.”

Next, were going to add our pictures. However, you place them it’s up to you! I like to group my pictures and graphics in loose categories.

After that, I’ll add my other quotes and words. The words should align with things you’d like to cultivate in your life. Examples of this are: Rest, Purpose, Peace, Prosperity, etc. (Feel free to use fancy fonts and other graphics. Your vision book doesn’t have to be aesthetically pleasing but if you’re like me you’ll like to make it something you’d like to look at)

Here’s my process in making my vision book:

After you’ve made your vision book

Now that you made your book, this is where the work begins! I like to leave my vision book open on my desk so I can see it every morning after I do my daily meditations. The point of the book is the see it, and let it encourage you to do the work and position yourself to receive prosperity. I know manifestation is a hot term right now but I have to emphasize that you won’t get anything on your vision book if you don’t do the work. You have to invest in yourself, believe what you deserve, and have faith that it will happen! This is simply one piece of the puzzle. I have also used my vision book to make digital wallpapers for my phone, laptop, and iPad. I might post about later let me know in the comments if you’d like to see that! Since we look at our phones/ computers I think it’s good to have, but the physical version is also important bc I like to touch my dreams ✨

And that’s it! I love the idea of a vision book and I hope you do too. Whatever you decide to put on yours, I hope all that you deserve comes to fruition. 🤎
