Okay so, we’re doing a thing. I’m finally starting a blog! This has been a loooong time coming and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. Like at this point add graphic designer, website builder, writer, editor to my resume because getting to this point right now required all of it! So, for my first post, I wanted to just come on here and free write sharing why I started all this and my hopes for this blog.
But first, I should probably do a quick little introduction
Hey sis! I’m KiryaOni (A.K.A Thee Bougie Babe 😉). I’m a creative that loves fashion, DIY, performative arts, chemistry, chile I do a lot. 😂 If you want to read into my story a little more, check out this post here.
Why did you start this blog?
Alright, I have to keep it a buck with you guys. Analysis paralysis had a chokehold on me. I’ve been doing this social media stuff for a while now, and once I started gaining momentum it all became overwhelming for me because I felt restricted to producing the same content that brought me success. I felt this standard (set by myself bc you know the saying: you are your worst critic) to show up as the same person I put myself on the internet as 5 years ago when in reality, so much has changed. I went to college, started living on my own, experiencing emotions and circumstances that I never had to deal with before, of course, things are gonna be different! I am not the same person I was yesterday let alone 5 years ago. But ask anyone successful in social media when you’ve been working towards something for so long and finally get success at it, changing the formula and trying something different is a real fear.
I also felt conflicted with the content I wanted to post. It’s so interesting to me that we are all multi-faceted beings, yet the human condition tends to put people in a box as if their whole life is consumed with that one thing. When I started seeing success on YouTube I started getting referred to as the home decor DIY’er, which to be fair I did post a lot of those videos, but if you looked at my channel you see I did other things as well. And I know all the shits about niching down for the algorithm, but I concluded that I want to share all the things that I want to share. Period. And what other place to do that than on my platform, hence this blog. 🎉
What will the blog look like?
KiryaOni.com will be especially my central hub for all things I wanna share with you guys. Off the top of my head, I can tell you there’s going to be a ton of good stuff like:
- Fashion
- Beauty
- DIY
- Lifestyle
- Travel
- Business
- Finances/ Adulting
Hopefully, they all stick, but I’m okay if they don’t because I really need this outlet. Writing this I already feel a sense of freedom to do whatever I want creatively, and since I’ve been in a creative rut for the past year or so, it’s really exciting for me. Of course, I wanna hear what you guys want to see from me and ultimately create a lil’ community of babes where we feel safe to be our authentic selves, try out new things, and elevate our lives. It is my hope that by me doing my thing, it gives you the push to do yours 😘
